TURNERS FALLS — The 41 graduates in the Class of 2025 at Turners Falls High School were described by Salutatorian Ella Guidaboni as being able to create, cultivate and connect — characteristics she, her peers and school administrators spoke to during their remarks at Friday’s commencement ceremony.

“Those are the kinds of strengths that don’t always get the spotlight, but they matter deeply and they deserve to be celebrated,” Guidaboni said.

Throughout the evening, speakers shared their memories of high school and reflected on the legacy the Class of 2025 has created, the accomplishments they’ve cultivated and the connections they’ve made with each other.

Valedictorian Mia Marigliano and Gill-Montague Regional School District Superintendent Brian Beck spoke about the class’ legacy, with Marigliano saying the graduates are leaving Turners Falls High School as changed people, but also leaving a place where they left a mark.

“We shaped the spirit of our class, we showed up for each other, we grew and we built something together,” Marigliano said. “We’re not just walking out changed by Turners Falls High School; we’re changed because of what we gave to it.”

Having overseen the Class of 2025 throughout their academic careers, Beck spoke to the graduates’ accomplishments in academics, sports, the arts and leadership, all while celebrating the people they’ve become and the example they set for other pupils.

“This class has filled our school community with kindness and caring, has modeled intellectual curiosity, stretched themselves beyond what they thought they might be capable of, and they have helped make dramatic improvements to our school and to our community,” he said. “I thank you for inspiring us by your example, and for leaving Turners Falls High School a better place, for having had you here all together.”

In spite of a rocky start to their high school experience amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Class of 2025 Co-President Sofia Moreno Sibrian said her peers have grown into themselves and are ready to enter the world.
