Bulletin Board: Crossover-Llewelyn captures DRIVE Men’s League championship

The DRIVE League crowned its Men’s League champion last week, as Crossover-Llewelyn took home the title with a 60-57 victory over No Name-Snell at Greenfield High School.
Jalen Sanders led the way with 19 points while Brayden Thayer added 12 points in the winning effort. Rob Jones scored 15 points and Chris Brown added 12 points in the loss.
The boys JV and varsity semifinals took place at Greenfield High School on Monday, with Keene taking down Greenfield, 74-54, in varsity action behind 14 points from Tyrese Stanley and 13 points from Alex Holmes. Grayson Thomas led the Wave with 32 points while Gavin Arsenault added seven points in the loss.
Frontier will face Keene in the finals after taking down Brattleboro, 70-60, behind 14 points from Alex Ellis and 12 points from Rowan Modestow. Hudson Smith scored 23 points and Logan Waite added 15 points in the loss.
In JV action, Athol took down Greenfield, 39-29, with Anthony Bergstrom scoring 12 points in the loss. Brattleboro then beat Turners, 46-36, behind 12 points from Wylie Nelson and 10 points from Owen Eliot. JJ Bones finished with 16 points and Hunter Kelly added 11 points for the Thunder.
The championship games are set for Wednesday at Stoneleigh-Burnham, with Athol and Brattleboro playing at 5:45 p.m. and Frontier and Keene squaring off at 6:45 p.m.
Franklin Tech Girls Summer League
The semifinals of the Franklin Tech Girls Summer Basketball League took place on Tuesday, with Keene taking down Ware, 70-27, behind 32 points from Harper Zalaski and 24 points from Payton Margaitis. Reese McKeever and Amelia Orszulak each scored nine points for Ware.

Mahar will face Keene for the championship at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Franklin Tech.

GolfMass Amateur Public Links
The 44th Massachusetts Amateur Public Links kicked off on Monday at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club, with Mark Waskiewicz, Seth Rosenbloom and Brian Strzempek competing and representing Crumpin-Fox Club while Andy Lesenski competed representing Country Club of Greenfield.
Waskiewicz is right in the mix, firing an even-72 to finish the day in fifth place and comfortably make the cut. Lesenski carded a 1-over 73 to finish the day in a tie for 10th place while Rosenbloom shot an 8-over 80 which put him in a tie for 55th and just making the cut.
Strzempek’s 11-over did not see him make the cut. George Wright Golf Course’s Sean Fitzpatrick is in the lead with a 6-under after one round.

Ann McHugh took first with four points while Teresa Varner came in second with three points in Flight One in a Match Play vs. Flight contest at in the 18 Hole Women’s League at Country Club of Greenfield Tuesday.
Julie Bailey won Flight Two with two points while Sue Sigda took second with one point. In the 9 Hole Flight Lane Kelly tied with Anne Echeverria for first (11).
Crumpin-Fox Women’s League
Michlle Lawler, Lisa Sullivan, Chris Wyske and Amanda Larson eagled while Amanda Hickey birdied to win skins during the Crumpin-Fox Women’s League last week.
Terry Boyce won closest to the pin on No. 3 (13 feet, six inches) and Michele Burch won on No. 9 (23-2).
