Bulletin Board: Greenfield Tennis Association dedicates court to Trevor Bross

On Sunday, the Greenfield Tennis Association dedicated one of the courts at Highland Park to a former league president.

Trevor Bross tragically passed away last fall and on Sunday, nearly of his 40 friends and family gathered at the Highland Park Courts where a plaque made by Clark Maynard was mounded on the fence next to Court No. 4 to honor his legacy.

Softball

FCL

Bombers 3, Menace 2 — It was a tight battle throughout to determine the Franklin County Summer Softball League champion on Wednesday at Murphy Park, as the championship game was tied at two going into the bottom of the seventh.

The Bombers rallied and put the game-winning run on the board to secure the title with a 3-2 victory.

Jillian Lavalle tallied two hits including a triple and drove in one run, Carson Farrell cracked two hits while Sienna LaFlesh knocked two hits and drove in a run for the Bombers. Mia Shaw was the winning pitcher, striking out 14 and scattering just four hits in seven innings in the circle.

Raine Wonsey was equally impressive in the circle for the Menace, striking out nine and giving up just the five hits. Amelia Rider doubled to drive in a run while Sofia Melnik, Wonsey and Kendra Steiner each doubled in the loss.

Grayson Thomas scored 40 points and Gavin Arsenault added 17 points in Greenfield’s 73-43 triumph over Smith Voke on Tuesday in a boys varsity contest in the DRIVE League at Greenfield High School.

Josh Sellers scored 11 points and Jahir Morales added seven points for the Vikings.

After, Brattleboro took down Hadley, 54-36, behind 16 points from Dawson Wheeler and 14 points from Logan Waite. Chase Earle scored 19 points and Kevin Matuszko added six points in the loss.

The third game on Tuesday saw Keene beat Narragansett, 45-42, behind 25 points from Jamal Stanley and 15 points from Tyrese Stanley. Max Kauffman scored 23 points in the loss.

To close out the night, Max Millette scored 16 points and Rowan Modestow added 12 points in Frontier’s 58-39 win over Hatfield. Ryan Guyette tallied 19 points in the loss.

Golf

Crumpin-Fox Senior Best Ball

Steve Giard and Tim Skorka shot a 65 to win the Crumpin-Fox Club’s Senior Open 2-Player Best Ball Tournament on Wednesday.

Jon Shea and Robert Shea took second (71) while Tom Bergeron and Joe Imelio came in third (72). Bill Farrell and Brice Craven tied with Shawn Kearney and Joe Grasso for the low net (62) while Michael Marchand and Craig White took third (64).

Skins winners were Mike Maguire and Tim Brandl on No. 3, Todd LaForce and Jay Corbett on No. 4, Giard and Skorka on No. 8, Jesse Morgan and Don Hodgkins on No. 9 and Bill Farrell and Brice Craven on No. 11.

Crumpin-Fox Women’s League

Jill Waldron and Brooke Fernandez tied with Whitney Robbins and Kay Cowperthwait for first place with scores of 38 in a 2 Player Better Ball contest in the Crumpin-Fox Women’s League this past week.

Kellie Martin and Sam Smith took second (40). Kathy Mack and Becky Shaw tied with Deb Deskavich and Jan Pereira for the low net (28) while Michelle Lawler and Betsy Cushing tied with Sandy Duprey and Kathy Malsch, Amanda Larson and Amanda Hickey as well as Marty Stinson and Debbie Mack for second (31).

Cowperthwait won closest to the pin on No. 3 (11 feet) while Smith won on No. 9 (13-2).

Knights of Columbus

Reggie Stevens took first with a score of +8 in the Knights of Columbus League at Thomas Memorial on Wednesday.

Bruce Merriam took second +7 while Jamie Deery came in third +6. Kyle Demers won closest to the pin on No. 7 (2-2) and Wayne Lacey won on No. 9 (8-6). Bob Bourbeau carded the low gross of 35.

Adult softball

Liberty Tax Sharks 13, St. Stan’s 10 — Che Christi had three hit and drove in two, Trevor Thomas knocked four hits including a double and Bobbi Morey recorded three hits and four RBIs in the Sharks’ win on Wednesday.

Hadyn Patenaude and Logan Anderson each had two hits while Jakob Lavin had two hits and three RBIs in the loss.
