Bulletin Board: Longmeadow rallies to take down Greenfield Post 81 in American Legion action

Greenfield Post 81 started fast against Longmeadow on Monday, but the early lead would not last.

Post 81 scored in the first inning and put five runs on the board in the second to take a 6-0 lead. Longmeadow’s bats came to life in the fourth, scoring six runs to tie the game before the hosts took the lead after scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth.

Greenfield was unable to answer in the top of the seventh, falling 8-6 in an American Legion Senior Division baseball game in Longmeadow.

Ethan Quinn had a big day at the plate for Post 81, knocking four hits including a double and driving in one. Ethan Mauthe singled, doubled and drove in three, Braeden Tsipenyuk tallied two hits while Luca Siano, Chase Zraunig and Michael Hioe hit safely in the loss.

Arthur Fitzpatrick struck out four in four innings work while Tsipenyuk struck out four in the final two innings on the hill.

Franklin County Summer League

Magic 22, Menace 5 — Samantha Suhl recorded three hits and drove in three, Emily Kajka singled, doubled, drove in three and struck out three in the circle, Talia Garretson doubled in a run while Abigail Rosario added a hit and an RBI in the Magic’s Franklin County Summer Softball League victory on Monday.

Chloe Bigelow tripled, Taylor Chase singled and knocked in two while Addie Ehle and Deshiana Davis both had a hit and an RBI in the loss.

CCG Firecracker Classic

Brady Booska and Gabe Mota shot a 63 to take first in the annual Firecracker Classic at Country Club of Greenfield on Sunday.

Alex Towne and Cam Merrigan tied with Justin McCloud and Eric Adams for second (64), Andy Lesenski and Booska placed fourth (65), Andy Laurenitis and Ryan Sullivan placed fifth (66) while Christopher Shover and Steve Jones tied with David Kennedy and Jason Kelton for sixth (68).

Ian Leonard and Mike McGoldrick shot the low net (56). Patrick Varner and Ike Purington tied with Terry Blanchard and Nate Blanchard for second (60), Clint McCloud and Mike Hall took fourth (63) while Pat Grogan and Phil Reilley tied with Steven Patenaude and Jim Elwell, Terry Sinclair and Tom Smith, Tom Schneider and Ernie Patnode and Vinnie Melendez and Dan Smith for fifth (63).

In the Women’s Division, Jess Lapachinski and Nancy Robie tied with Terry Boyce and Judy Strong as well as Boyce and Teresa Varner for first (70). Nancy Donoghue and TC Emerson tied with Donoghue and Robie for the low net (60).
