Montague native joins Coldwell Banker Community Realtors

SOUTH DEERFIELD — Brody Trott, a native of Montague, has joined Coldwell Banker Community Realtors as a licensed real estate agent.

After spending five years as a veterinary technician and pursuing studies in veterinary medicine, Trott realized that his passion lay elsewhere. This led him to transfer to the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Isenberg School of Management, where he is set to graduate in the spring of 2025 with a degree in business finance.

It was during his time at UMass that Trott’s interest in real estate began to take shape. Initially, he immersed himself in real estate podcasts like “Bigger Pockets” and discussions around financial freedom through rental properties. Trott’s decision to join Coldwell Banker Community Realtors came after a chance meeting at Hitchcock Brewing Co. with real estate agent Mike Packard, who introduced Trott to Coldwell Banker Community Realtors owner, Brian Megliola.

“I’ve always been drawn to helping people, whether through my work in veterinary care or as a firefighter/EMT” with the Turners Falls Fire Department, Trott said. “With real estate, I see another opportunity to serve my community by helping people find homes and achieve financial freedom. After meeting with Brian and the team at CBCR, I felt like their approach and values aligned perfectly with my own.”

Trott is a member of the Realtor Association of the Pioneer Valley, the National Association of Realtors and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors. His primary focus will be residential real estate in Franklin and Hampshire counties. For more information, contact Trott at Brody@cbCommunityRealtors.com or 413-800-2479.

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Business Association is seeking sponsors for the 2024 holiday lights program.

From late November through the first week of February (just after the Winter Carnival), poles on Main and Federal streets, as well as Bank Row, will be decorated and lit for the holiday season. Each sponsor’s name appears on a star that hangs from one of the lighted poles. Street poles may also be sponsored as dedications or memorials.

Sponsors who contribute $100 will get a white star. It is $500 for a red star and $1,000 for a gold star. The GBA recommends buying a star by Nov. 15 to ensure it is hung in time for the Dec. 6 tree lighting.

GCC welcomes two new staff to leadership team

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Community College recently announced two new members of its leadership team.

Shanni Smith-Arsenault joined GCC in July in the new position of vice president for enrollment management and student success, a division that includes marketing and communications, student financial services, admission, testing and assessment, dual enrollment, academic advising, career and transfer services, and student affairs.

Smith-Arsenault brings more than 20 years of experience in enrollment management and student affairs, including as director of transfer admission and dual enrollment at Anna Maria College, senior associate director of admissions at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Services, and director of advising at Mount Wachusett Community College.

“I’m thrilled to be leading an amazing team of people who are passionate about helping students pursue their academic and professional goals and dreams,” Smith-Arsenault said in a statement. “As a first-generation college student myself and a beneficiary of Massachusetts public higher education, I know just how important enrollment and student success services can be.”

Shelley Errington Nicholson began working as dean of students at GCC, also in July. In her new role, Errington Nicholson oversees and provides strategic direction for all student services, including student engagement and leadership, the veterans center, the women’s resource center, the Corner Market food pantry, peer tutoring, the recreation center and the wellness center. In addition, she meets daily with students who have concerns or need guidance in different areas.

“It is deeply satisfying to have even a small hand in helping students meet their academic, career and personal goals,” Errington Nicholson said in a statement. “To be doing so at this dynamic and innovative institution is a tremendous honor.”
