The New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) playoffs get underway on Wednesday, with a number of Deerfield Academy and Northfield Mount Hermon teams gearing up to make runs at a championship.

That starts on the ice, where the Deerfield Academy boys hockey team holds the No. 1 overall seed in the Open Bracket that features the top NEPSAC clubs.

DA (21-4), which hasn’t lost since Jan. 18, enters the tournament on a 13-game winning streak and has outscored its opponents 104-55 on the season. The Big Green will host eighth-seeded Noble and Greenough in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. It will be the first meeting of the season between the two schools.

The semifinals are set for Saturday while the finals are scheduled for Sunday at Toscano Family Ice Forum on the campus of UConn in Storrs, Conn.

The Deerfield boys hockey team isn’t the only one in the mix for a NEPSAC title.

The Big Green girls hockey team is the No. 2 seed in the Large School Bracket and will host No. 7 Milton Academy on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. DA (18-6-1) is coming off a victory over Williston, the top-seeded team in the Elite Bracket, last week. If the Big Green are to advance they would play in the semifinals on Saturday while the championship game is set for Sunday and will be played at Taft School in Watertown, Conn.

On the court, a pair of NMH teams will be competing to win a championship.

The Hogger boys basketball team — which won the 2012, 2016, 2018 and 2019 New England Championships — will be looking to make a run in the Class AA bracket this week, entering as the No. 6 seed. NMH (18-8) will be on the road to take on third-seeded Kimball Union in the semifinals on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Hoggers fell to the Wildcats, 79-70, last week.
