SOUTH DEERFIELD — Craftspeople of all specialties will set up shop inside the Frontier Regional School cafeteria and gymnasium on Saturday as the Deerfield Police Association’s Holiday Craft Fair returns for the 39th year.
With all 70 vendor slots reserved, the public is invited to stop by the school, 113 North Main St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help check off their holiday shopping lists, all while helping raise money for the Deerfield Police Association.
“It’s one of those annual events we look forward to doing,” said Deerfield Police Detective Sgt. Adam Sokoloski. “It’s a really good fundraiser.”
The Deerfield Police Association raises money for community programs like youth sports or Frontier’s school trip to Washington D.C. The association also provides the Walter R. Dacyczyn Memorial Scholarship Award in honor of Officer Walter Dacyczyn who was killed after being struck by a car in October 1976.
“We try to keep it all local,” Sokoloski said, noting that this is the sole fundraiser the Deerfield Police Association conducts each year.
Hot dogs, burgers, salad and clam chowder donated by Wolfie’s Restaurant will be available for lunch, as well as doughnuts, coffee and Clarkdale Fruit Farms cider will be available in the morning.
Parking at the school and admission into the craft fair is free. Sokoloski said the event has been wildly successful in the past and the Deerfield Police Association is looking forward to another great year.
“We’re hoping for a great crowd. It’s great to see a lot of people that come back to town year after year to support this community event,” Sokoloski said. “We’re really thankful for the support.”
