GREENFIELD — Four Rivers Charter Public School celebrated the conclusion of the 33 graduates’ high school adventure on Saturday, a ceremony marked by two seniors who shared a heartfelt metaphor.

“Class of 2025 — you showed us how character is built,” Principal and Head of School Jenni Manfredi said. “In community, through challenge, with laughter and with love, you have practiced responsibility, courage and compassion in a real way. In doing so you have helped nurture a school culture that will ripple long after you walk across the stage.”

In a community-driven celebration, Manfredi shared how the multifaceted graduates made their impact in several different ways. Whether it was through drama, visual arts or a devotion to athletics — punctuated by the success of the ultimate frisbee program — the Class of 2025 made its presence known.

“As you head into the next chapter, I hope you carry this with you: the knowledge that your presence matters, that your actions shape the world around you and that you can always return to Four Rivers, not just as alumni, but as a chosen family,” Manfredi said. “I know how much you guys love each other … Congratulations Class of 2025, we are so proud of you. Go forth and keep making your mark.”

Senior advisors and teachers, Mike Bukowick, Jackie MacNeish and Leah Plath, stood together sharing personal messages about each of the 33 graduates who rose individually. The three shared their immense gratitude for being able to make memories with the students while backpacking, traveling to Washington, D.C., and watching them grow.

Two graduates, Eliot Sanborn and Finneas Robert, said they had difficulty finding the right words for their speeches. Sanborn explained he did what he always does when he is stuck and went outside, where he saw a group of geese.

The two explained that geese are loyal to their flock and help each other fly by creating momentum in a V-shaped flying pattern. When one is injured or falling behind, some stay behind to help the others.

“Who we are today is a tapestry of every test, obstacle and experience we have overcome to be here,” Sanborn said. “Our goal for you — our friends, our classmates, our teachers, our flock — is that you carry that with you. That you remember the people who flapped their wings beside you when you were too tired to go on, who waited for you when you couldn’t move forward yet and who lifted you higher just by being there.”

“We are all about to fly off in separate directions,” Robert said. “Most of us don’t know exactly where and that’s OK. No matter where you go, we’ll always share this flight.”
