Colrain man wins $15 million

COLRAIN — Gary Herzig of Colrain bought a $30 ticket from the F.L. Roberts service station at 63 Main St., Greenfield, and came away a millionaire.

Herzig, 58, is the second $15 million grand prize winner in the state lottery’s 200X instant game, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission.

Herzig claimed his prize at the Lottery’s Braintree headquarters on Monday, choosing a cash option and receiving a one-time payment of $9,750,000 (less tax withholdings), according to Lottery spokesman Christian Teja. “He plans on using his winnings to invest in his retirement,” Teja said, in a news release.

Herzig could not be reached for comment on Thursday.

The F.L. Roberts gas station that sold the winning ticket will receive a $50,000 bonus for the ticket sale.
