Learn about health care professions with training network

GREENFIELD — Members of the Massachusetts Rural Workforce Training Network will be at the Greenfield Public Library on Monday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to noon to provide information about working in health care professions and answer questions about the network’s free training program to become a community health worker.

The Massachusetts Rural Workforce Training Network is an educational collaborative whose objective is to promote the community health worker profession across rural areas of Massachusetts. The organization will offer a new round of trainings for the community health worker program beginning in September at no cost for those living and/or working in Franklin County.

Ice cream social set for Saturday

GREENFIELD — The Historical Society of Greenfield’s annual ice cream social is set for Saturday, July 19, from noon to 3 p.m. at 43 Church St.

The event will begin at noon with music by the Falltown String Band on the lawn and free cups of ice cream to enjoy under tents or on the porch. Guests are invited to enjoy a tour of the Historical Society’s exhibits inside the building. This year’s event features a landscape painting exhibit and quilts from the Historical Society’s collection.

This event is free to attend and is held annually on or near the birth date of Mary P. Wells Smith, founder of the Historical Society.

The Historical Society of Greenfield is open on Saturdays from May to September from noon to 3 p.m.

Pop-up cartoon exhibit on display

GREENFIELD — Local artist Andrea Cohen-Kiener will host “A Woman Under Pressure,” a pop-up cartoon exhibit at The LAVA Center at 324 Main St. during its cafe/gallery hours on Friday, July 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be a gallery talk on Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m.

New comedy sets coming to LAVA Center

GREENFIELD — The Comedy Project Revue at The LAVA Center will feature new comedy sets by Marian Kelner, Berte Isser, Shannon Chabot, Kendra Corrie, Andrea Cohen-Kiener, Paul Bennett and Kate Lewis on Friday, July 25, at 7 p.m.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and seating is limited. A $5 to $10 donation is suggested.

Two-day summer tag, linen on bag sale on tap

GREENFIELD — The Blessed Trinity Rosary Society will hold a summer tag, linen and bake sale, as well as a raffle, on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 135 Main St.

A takeout lunch will be available both days from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be a brown bag sale on Saturday from noon to 12:30 p.m.
