Participants must register in advance for Greenfield Recreation Department programs online at greenfieldrecreation.com/youthandteens.html or by stopping by the department’s offices at 20 Sanderson St.

Learn to Play Pickleball: Monday, July 21, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Green River Park. This free one-day clinic with instructor Amanda Begos will provide an introduction to the rules and game-play of this widely accessible sport. Open to new players of all ages. Equipment will be available.

Skateboarding Lessons: Monday, July 21, to Thursday, July 24, at the Greenfield Skate Park. (Friday, July 25, will be used as a make-up day if needed.) Sessions for beginners, ages 6 to 15, will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and intermediate lessons, also for ages 6 to 15, will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All lessons with instructor Richard Creque will be held in a group setting. Each class will emphasize new aspects of skateboarding until students are confident in their own ability to skate. Participants are required to wear a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and closed-toe shoes. The cost is $50 for residents and $60 for non-residents.

Walk in the Park with Mayor Ginny Desorgher: Thursday, July 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hillside Park. Attendees can bring questions for the mayor and learn about what is happening in Greenfield.

Free Triathlon Clinic: Saturday, July 26, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Green River Swimming and Recreation Area. Aimed at first-time and beginner triathletes, topics at the clinic will include: an introduction of the Greenfield Triathlon course and rules, race-day preparation, including nutrition and rest; what gear is needed; how to best stay afloat in the river; transition tips; and getting the most from a ride and run. The clinic is an opportunity to see the course, learn about transition strategies and meet other triathlon enthusiasts. Participants should bring questions and gear. There will be time after to swim, ride and run. The clinic will be held rain or shine.

Field Hockey Clinic: Saturday, Aug. 2, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Greenfield High School field. This clinic includes fun drills, games and dynamic skills training for players of all experience levels. The coaches teach everything from stick handling to perfecting shots. The clinic is run by prior players and coaches at both the high school and college level. The cost is $15 for residents and $25 for non-residents.

Youth Tennis Lessons: Monday, July 28, to Thursday, Aug. 7, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the clay courts at Beacon Field. (Fridays will be used as make-up days if needed.) The Recreation Department’s youth tennis lessons are designed to introduce players ages 6 to 15 to the game in a fun, engaging and supportive environment. Whether a child is picking up a racket for the first time or looking to refine their skills, the coach tailors each session to meet the needs and abilities of the group. Focused on building proper technique, sportsmanship and confidence, these lessons help young athletes develop a love for the game while improving agility, hand-eye coordination and overall fitness. The cost is $60 for residents and $70 for non-residents.

Adult Tennis Lessons: Monday, July 28, to Thursday, Aug. 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the clay courts at Beacon Field. (Fridays will be used as make-up days if needed.) The Recreation Department’s tennis lessons for ages 16 and up are designed for players of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Whether participants are seeking to refine their techniques, increase their fitness or just have fun, the coaches provide participants with personalized instruction to help them reach their goals. The cost is $60 for residents and $70 for non-residents.
