GREENFIELD — An Orange man facing 18 charges related to inappropriate sexual behavior is being held without bail at the Franklin County House of Correction.

Donald Grenier, 80, has pleaded not guilty to nine counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, one count of rape of a child and eight counts of aggravated rape of a child, five-year age difference. He is being represented by defense attorney Alfred P. Chamberland, who had no comment for the Greenfield Recorder following Wednesday afternoon’s status conference in Franklin County Superior Court before Judge Mark D. Mason.

Grenier is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing March 16, which is 180 days after he was arraigned.

Assistant District Attorney Frederic G. Bartmon, who is prosecuting the case, explained anyone held without the right to bail on a finding of dangerousness is entitled by state statute to have some amount of bail set after 180 days.

He said there are five alleged victims, and the reported incidents occurred in Orange and Athol between roughly 2008 and mid-2019.
