It was a dominant defensive showing for the Frontier girls basketball team against Greenfield on Thursday. 

The Redhawks didn’t allow the Wave to get on the scoreboard until there was 1:41 to go in the first half, as Frontier raced ahead 29-2 at the half. 

The Redhawks went on to earn a 48-14 Franklin County League North victory at Goodnow Gymnasium. 

Addie Harrington and Harper Modestow each scored 10 points while Whitney Campbell, Skyler Steele, Claire Kirkendall and Olivia Machon each added five points in the win for Frontier. Elderina Cecunjanin tallied six points, Tayler Bergeron scored five points while Anna Bucala finished with three points for Greenfield. 

Mohawk Trail 47, Franklin Tech 44 — Trailing 32-31 going into the fourth, the Warriors outscored the Eagles 16-12 in the final frame to defeat Franklin Tech in Buckland Thursday. 

Valerie Bzomowski finished with 11 points, Emmalee Inman and Zephyr Jetzon both scored nine points, Bella Pettengill recorded eight points while Natalie Lanoue added seven points in the win. 

Lili Inman led the Eagles with 14 points, Haleigh Benoit scored eight points while Hannah Gilbert and Brayleigh Burgh each scored seven points in the loss. 

Lenox 46, Mahar 25 — Hayden Comeau recorded 13 points for the Senators in a Franklin County League North loss to the Millionaires in Orange Thursday.

Taylor Paluk chipped in eight points while Thea Whitmore and Jaya McBroom each added two points in the loss. 

Boys basketball

Franklin Tech 68, PV Christian 52 — The Eagles won their second in a row on Thursday, as Gabe Mota scored all 16 of his points in the first quarter to help Tech race away with an independent victory in Turners. 

Caleb Johnston and Nolyn Stafford both scored 12 points, Hunter Donahue finished with 11 points and Jaime Muniz added eight points in the win for Franklin Tech. 

McCann Tech 46, Turners 31 — The Hornets pulled ahead 29-15 at the half to knock off the Thunder in Turners on Thursday. 

Jackson Cogswell scored 12 points, Alex Quezada and Caden Williams each recorded five points while Kainen Stevens added four points in the loss. 

Hockey

Minnechaug 4, Greenfield 3 (OT) — Jake Jurek notched his 100th point with the Green Wave following a first period goal, though Greenfield would go on to fall to the Falcons in overtime on Thursday in West Springfield. 

Minnechaug scored with 8.1 seconds to go to force overtime, with the Falcons scoring with 2:20 to go in extra time. 

Matt Garvin scored in both the second and third period for Greenfield. Luca Siano, Chase Zraunig and Anson Prunier had the assists in the loss. 

Alpine ski

Another PVIAC meet, another first place finish for Mohawk Trail’s Addie Loomis. 

The junior blazed through the slalom course in a time of 43.04 seconds, earning her first place in the girls race on the day. 

Fellow Warrior’s Ellie Pinkham (third, 47.71) and Grace Sisum (sixth, 50.02) joined Loomis in the top 10 while Sofiya Slocik-Gritzner (12th, 52.23), Brooke Koshinsky (14th, 53.12) and Jaylynn Peters (26th, 1:04.10) for Mohawk Trail. 

Grayson Bishop led the way for the Warrior boys, placing second with a run of 32.26 on the giant slalom course. Phineas Tuttman (eighth, 33.24), Liam Zarotny (ninth, 34.13) and Ben Zarotny (10th, 34.91) placed in the top 10 while Zavel Gardner (20th,  37.95) and Xerxes Law (30th, 39.72  ) earned top 30 finishes for Mohawk Trail.

Wrestling

Franklin Tech 49, Mahar 27 — Victories from Carsten Couture (120), Maxon Brunette (126), Mia Marigliano (132), Camden Bonnett (150), Benjamin Baker (157), Travis Eastman (175), Collin Eddy (190), Jackson Morey (215) and Seamus Collins (185) lifted the Eagles past the Senators in Turners Wednesday. 

 Abduli Gilmore (106), Asher Williams (113), Elias Roberts (138), Joshua Mazza (144) and Eujeyn Smith (165) secured victories for Mahar. 

Mohawk Trail 36, Duggan 34 — Liam Smith (106), Wade Purington (120) and Logan Moore (157) earned wins via pin for the Warriors, propelling them to a victory in Buckland Wednesday. 

Middle school

Wesley Darling (10 points), Xaviay Reynolds (eight points) and Jake Richardson (four points) led the Greenfield middle schools boys past PVCICS, 48-27.
