HS Roundup: Greenfield volleyball upsets Keefe Tech, 3-2, in MIAA Div. 5 prelims

The Greenfield volleyball team kept its season alive on Thursday.
The 37th-seeded Green Wave went on the road to take on 28th-seeded Keefe Tech in the preliminary round of the MIAA Div. 5 state tournament Thursday, and upset-minded Greenfield refused to go away.
The game went all five sets, with the Green Wave winning the fifth to move on with a 3-2 victory in Framingham.
Greenfield (10-9) advances to play No. 5 Baystate Academy on Friday at 5 p.m. in Springfield.
Four Rivers 5, St. Michael’s 1 — The Otters are heading to the River Valley Athletic League championship game, knocking off St. Michael’s in the semifinals on Thursday.
Second-seeded Four Rivers will play top-seeded Putney School on the road on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Eliot Sanborn and Riley Stanclift tallied in the first half for the Otters before Cooper Whitney scored twice and Kolin Broderick added a goal on a free kick in the second half for Four Rivers. Whitney, Miles Retzlaff and Sanborn had the assists in the victory.
Turners 3, PVCICS 1 — Yolvin Ovalle scored twice while Moises Borraye found the back of the net in the Thunders’ victory over the Dragons on Wednesday in a non-playoff contest.
