COLRAIN — Katie Korby is the town’s newest Selectboard member, having won her election to a three-year term by a 214-124 vote against candidate Howard Phelps.

“I’m really grateful to the folks in Colrain that voted for me,” Korby, who is a worker-owner and production manager at Real Pickles in Greenfield, said Wednesday afternoon. “I’m really looking forward to serving Colrain.”

Korby and her husband Justin have lived in Colrain for 12 years and have a 9-year-old daughter. During Candidates Night at Griswold Memorial Library, Korby told those present, “We love Colrain. We hope to stay here forever.”

Former Mohawk Trail Regional School District School Committee member Joe Kurland is now town moderator, having defeated his opponent, former Town Moderator Michael Slowinski, by a 182-145 vote for a one-year term.

“I’m really grateful for the folks in Colrain that voted,” Kurland said Wednesday. “I look forward to conducting the meetings and giving everyone a chance to be heard.”

According to Town Clerk Anna Lavarreda, 351 of the town’s 1,337 registered voters came to the polls Tuesday, making for a roughly 26.3% voter turnout.

The following candidates, running unopposed, were also elected:

■Assessor — Jim Slowinski, 294 votes.

■Constable — Melinda Herzig, 307 votes.

■Library trustees, two seats — Betty Johnson, 307 votes, and Nancy Turkle, 266 votes.

There was also a non-binding resolution on the ballot asking if residents want to request that the owners of the town’s old meetinghouse restore it to being usable. The vote on that question was 200 in favor and 123 in opposition.
