ORANGE — The Orange Historical Society will hold its third annual “Hear & Tell” of “unbelievable true stories” on Friday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. at 41 North Main St.
The storytelling program is set to last 90 minutes, with refreshments to follow.
Storytellers and audience members must register to secure a spot by calling Ann Reed at 978-544-3864. Prepared anecdotes run the gamut from homespun recollections of yesteryear in Orange to contentions of otherworldly experiences. Donations benefit the Historical Society.
Orange Community Band wrapping up summer concert seasonORANGE — The Orange Community Band will complete its summer concert season with the sixth Friday evening concert on the bandstand at Butterfield Park at 7 p.m. on July 25. The theme is “Down Memory Lane.”
Music under consideration for the program includes “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “Old Timers Waltz,” “Trumpeter’s Lullaby,” “Count Your Blessings” and “In a Persian Market.”
The Salvation Army food truck will provide refreshments, with proceeds going to support programs — including music lessons — for youth in the community.
An additional concert, “Back to School,” will be performed at the Butterfield Park bandstand on Aug. 29.
Trivia night raises nearly $500 for North Quabbin Dog ParkORANGE — The trivia night held at the Ellinwood Country Club in Athol on June 28 raised $479 for the North Quabbin Dog Park.

The cost was $120 for teams of six and $20 for individuals or couples. Organizer Jade Bailey said the money will be used for general maintenance, including trash cans and waste bags.
“It went really well,” she said. “A lot of the park users attended, which was great. It was a good turnout, for sure.”
New Salem Touch-a-Truck Community Day coming upNEW SALEM — The third annual Touch-a-Truck Community Day is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon at the New Salem Public Library on Saturday, July 26.
Families and children of all ages are invited to explore and climb aboard a variety of vehicles — from fire trucks and construction equipment to police cruisers and more. They can also meet the people who operate these machines and learn how they work.
Pioneer Valley Brass Quintet to perform free concertNEW SALEM — The Pioneer Valley Brass Quintet will perform a free concert of traditional and modern music at the Swift River Valley Historical Society, 40 Elm St., at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 27.
The program is sponsored by the First Universalist Parish of North Dana as the 815th in a series of memorial concerts to further the memory of the parish, which was forced to leave North Dana for the Quabbin Reservoir’s creation 90 years ago.
Dick Tandy and Steve Babineau play trumpet, Tabatha Greelees plays horn, Dana Tandy performs on trombone and Susan Lemei is featured on tuba.
This program coincides with the birthday of Harriet Clary, who lived for many years in the Whitaker-Clary House, which is part of the museum today. Cake will be served after the concert.
