ROWE — In just nine minutes, Special Town Meeting voters unanimously said “yes” to all five articles on the warrant on Monday, thus approving the purchase of a new police cruiser and a Highway Department truck, along with funding associated with the replacement of the elementary school’s oil tank.

Twenty-two voters attended the meeting, held at Rowe Elementary School, and quickly approved all articles with minimal discussion.

The only comment came from Park Commission Chair Laurie Pike, who spoke on Article 1. The article sought voter approval to transfer $50,000 from one of the Park Department’s accounts to the Highway Department. In exchange for the funds, which will be used to buy a new Highway Department truck, the Park Commission will receive one of the old highway trucks.

“The Park Commission used to be in rotation with the Highway Department, and every five to seven years the Highway Department would give us a truck, and somehow that stopped,” Pike said. “I’m hoping we can get back into that rotation.”

With Article 2, voters allocated $63,000 from the Capital Stabilization Account to buy a new police cruiser that will replace the department’s 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe.

With the passage of Article 3, voters appropriated $7,700 for engineering and procurement costs so Rowe Elementary School can begin the process of replacing its underground oil tank.

With Articles 4 and 5, voters approved reimbursing the Board of Health $746 for opioid addiction prevention and support program costs that were meant to be paid from the Opioid Stabilization Account, after which they voted to close the stabilization account and transfer any remaining funds to a special revenue account.

The meeting adjourned at 6:39 p.m. with all town business taken care of until voters reconvene for Annual Town Meeting in the spring.
