WHATELY — Residents will be asked to consider two Community Preservation Act requests and two bills from prior fiscal years at a three-article Special Town Meeting on Wednesday, April 30.

The Special Town Meeting will be held at the Town Offices, 4 Sandy Lane, at 5:30 p.m. before the regularly scheduled Selectboard meeting at 6 p.m.

The main articles to be addressed are CPA funding requests, starting with a $9,800 request to replace a flat portion of the S. White Dickinson Memorial Library’s roof. All work will be done according to the Secretary of the Interior’s standards for treatment of historic properties.

The other project requests $16,000 to fund Whately’s share of a new swimming dock at Tri-Town Beach.

Judy Markland, a member of the Community Preservation Committee, said the CPA requests are on the Special Town Meeting warrant so the applicants can get a jump on their projects if the funding is approved.

“The CPC asked that [these projects] come up at the Special Town Meeting, so the applicants could get started on them before June,” Markland said in an email. “The Tri-Town Beach folks would like to get the dock expansion in as soon as possible. And I gather that the library roof that needs replacing is in very bad shape.”

If the projects are approved, Whately will have about $560,000 in CPA reserves for the current fiscal year and another $215,000 for FY26.

The other article voters will be asked to consider involves paying two bills from prior fiscal years. The town is on the hook for $1,207 from Don’s Plumbing for town building work and $137 to KP Law.
