Veterans food drive to continue through Memorial Day

WHATELY — The Whately Congregational Church’s food drive for veterans continues through the town’s Memorial Day celebration.

The church, located at 177 Chestnut Plain Road, is seeking nonperishable items, which can be left at the church carriage shed throughout the rest of the weekend. Donations will be taken to the Veterans Food Bank in Leeds.

Spring Festival set for Sunday

WHATELY — The Whately Historical Society’s Spring Festival is set for Sunday, May 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town Hall, 194 Chestnut Plain Road. The festival coincides with the community’s Memorial Day ceremonies.

The event will feature music, food and other entertainment, as well as celebrate the opening of the Historical Society’s 2025 exhibit, “What’s for Dinner? A History of Food in Whately.”

The Whately Packing Shed Band will provide music and Franklin County Beekeepers Association Vice President Greg Cootware will host a demonstration. P’frogi and Masa Mexicano will be have food for sale, while Brookledge Sugarhouse will be selling local maple syrup.

Conway Transfer Station stickers go on sale June 2

CONWAY — Transfer Station stickers go on sale on June 2 and are required for entry by July 1.

The cost is $20 and will get residents 52 free trash bag stickers. Vehicle registration is required.

Schoen Books raises $1,300 for charity

SOUTH DEERFIELD — Schoen Books’ annual book sale earlier this month raised more than $1,300 for charities in the Pioneer Valley.
