ORANGE — The town-owned bridge over Tully River’s west branch is closed until further notice as a precautionary measure in response to severe flood gauge readings.

The bridge was closed on Monday at 2 p.m. at the request of the state Department of Transportation, according to Orange Town Administrator Matthew Fortier. He said a post-flood inspection by the MassDOT dive team is required for reopening. He said the state planned to send a diver Tuesday evening. The bridge’s reopening is expected to be announced on Orange’s municipal website.

The bridge is the same one closed for roughly one day in July after the Tully River’s flow rate and height reached predetermined trigger points.
