Whately cyclist struck by vehicle in Deerfield

DEERFIELD — A Whately resident was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield by South County EMS Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while she was cycling.
The woman, 64, suffered a suspected head injury and a laceration to her arm after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Old Main and Memorial streets in Old Deerfield at around 1:40 p.m, according to Deerfield Police Chief John Paciorek Jr.
The incident is under investigation. Paciorek added that the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and was fully cooperative with police during the initial investigation.
No citations had been issued as of Friday afternoon, according to Paciorek.
