HAMPDEN — Thirty-six holes weren’t enough to decide which 32 golfers were going to make Wednesday’s match play in the 117th Massachusetts Amateur Championship at GreatHorse. After Monday and Tuesday’s first two rounds, 24 players were safely inside the 6-over par cut line while 10 players were tied at that number.

HAMPDEN — Prior to this summer, it had been a handful of years since Cody Booska teed the ball up competitively. The Turners Falls native who now lives in Boston but represents Country Club of Greenfield, earned medalist honors with a 3-under 69 at a qualifier for the Massachusetts Amateur Championship on June 18 to welcome himself back to the competitive golf scene.

SOUTH DEERFIELD — The Frontier boys volleyball team watched its 2-0 lead evaporate in a heartbeat. The Redhawks led the third set 23-21 but Belchertown scored the next four points to steal the set and extend the match. In the fourth set, the Orioles squeaked out another 25-23 victory to force a fifth and final frame.

AMHERST — The 15th and final practice of the spring took place at McGuirk Alumni Stadium on Thursday morning, as for the first time in 2025, the UMass football team practiced outside of The Bubble thanks to 50 degree and sunny weather. Head coach Joe Harasymiak met with members of the media following practice and had a mix of emotions when asked about the spring.

AMHERST — UMass men’s basketball head coach Frank Martin landed a pair of commitments on Wednesday, as forwards Dimitri Clerc and Charles Outlaw – former junior college players – transferred to UMass out of the portal. That now makes four Minutemen transfers coming in (joining K’Jei Parker and Donovan Brown), and all four have either been from JUCO or Division 2.

The Green Wave rely on senior MacKenzie Paulin, a Merrimack commit, while the Raiders typically give the ball to sophomore Ryanne Dubay, who will have her fair share of college offers when the time comes.
