GILL — The Selectboard has approved a contract with Commonwealth Electric Technologies to install 44 LED lights in Town Hall.

Per the contract, the total project cost is $4,152. An Eversource incentive of $500 that expires at the end of the calendar year brings the town’s contribution down to $3,652. According to Town Administrator Ray Purington, the $3,652 will come from Gill’s Building Maintenance Account.

The plan is to upgrade the existing 44 light fixtures by installing LED lights that will decrease the wattage used, ultimately saving the town an estimated $676 per year.

Purington said it felt like the right time to take on the light conversion project given the Eversource incentive.

“We’ve been looking at LED light conversion for this building off and on for quite a few years,” Purington said, “and the right project hasn’t come along until now.”
