GREENFIELD — Local filmmaker Julian Lowenthal and the Improv Alliance will present their work at The LAVA Center on Thursday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m.
Lowenthal is an award-winning film producer and director. He has been writing, directing, producing and editing music videos, sketches and short films since 2008. He has also worked on dozens of Hollywood and independent projects. He recently wrapped his latest and most ambitious independent film to date, “Money Game.”
The Improv Alliance formed in January 2025, when a group of artists and entertainers were looking to collaborate on film-making projects. They started playing around with videotaping improv games. While there is a core group of four members, new members are welcome to join.
Lowenthal will showcase the range of projects he’s worked on and is working on, and the Improv Alliance will perform a live improv sketch. There is a $1 to $5 suggested donation.
GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Senior Center will offer qi gong classes with Lynne Smith on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. between July 8 and Aug. 19.
Qi gong is an ancient practice that involves simple, gentle movements. All exercises are done standing. No experience is necessary.
Advance registration with a $65 payment (cash or check only) is required by July 3. Participants will need to carry in clean shoes, as the class meets in the Fitness Studio.
GREENFIELD — A Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) coordinator is available at the Greenfield Senior Center for drop-in assistance on Thursday, July 10, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

GREENFIELD — A three-week chair Pilates sessions begins at the Greenfield Senior Center on Friday, July 11, and will continue on July 18 and 25, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.
Chair Pilates helps improve posture and mobility, and is especially helpful for those struggling with osteoporosis. The class is slow-paced and gentle.
Advance registration with a $15 payment and Senior Center membership (free) are required for this class by July 7.
GREENFIELD — Residents of all towns are welcome to attend the Memory Cafe, sponsored by The Arbors at Greenfield, on Friday, July 11, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Senior Center.
The Memory Cafe provides a supportive gathering place for people living with memory loss, together with their caregivers. Lunch is provided, followed by an activity.

GREENFIELD — The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts’ monthly brown bag program for income-qualifying seniors will be held at The Weldon apartments at 54 High St. on Monday, July 14, from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

GREENFIELD — The Pax Sax Quartet will perform a “Jazz in July” concert at the Greenfield Senior Center on Tuesday, July 22, from 2 to 3 p.m.
The quartet plays music ranging from classical, ragtime, big band swing, jazz standards and traditional American tunes to pieces by contemporary composers.
Senior Center membership is not required, but advance registration is needed by calling 413-772-1517, ext. 0 or by stopping by the center’s front desk. This free event is partially funded by the Greenfield Cultural Council and the Greenfield Council on Aging.
GREENFIELD — Farmers market coupons are available to income-eligible seniors on a first-come, first-served basis on Friday, July 25, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Senior Center.
You do not have to be a Senior Center member or a Greenfield resident to get coupons. The program is open at all who meet the eligibility requirements: age 60 or older with a gross annual income of $28,953 or less for a single person or $39,128 for a couple. For each additional family member, add $10,175.
One $25 booklet of coupons is allowed per person. A signature is required.

GREENFIELD — Author Sally-Jane Heit will give a talk at the Greenfield Senior Center on Tuesday, July 29, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
At the age of 91, Heit wrote and published her memoir, “Not Yet! Tales From a 90-Year-Old Broadway Diva You Should Have Known.” She will share excerpts from her memoir and reveal how she tackled the “sand mountain” of writing, recording and publishing a book. In “Not Yet,” she details her adventures and exploits both on stage and off while chasing her dreams and uncovering the intricacies of what it means to be human.
Books for be available for sale for $15 (exact cash is requested) and can be signed after the program. The program itself is free and Senior Center membership is not required, but advance registration is needed by calling 413-772-1517, ext. 0 or by stopping by the center’s front desk.
ALBANY, N.Y. — Greenfield resident Alyssa Stevens was named to the dean’s list at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for the spring semester.
To achieve dean’s list status, full-time students must successfully complete their coursework with a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 score.
