Julie Cavacco: Hilchey for Deerfield Selectboard

Deerfield is in the position where we have two candidates running for a seat on the Selectboard that have both held the position. The decision of who to vote for is very easy for me.

Tim Hilchey has been incredibly effective in the role. His life experience in newspapers taught him well that there are different opinions in any community. He doesn’t disregard any opinion. He weighs the benefits and looks at the risks of project proposals.

He works well with the other committees and reviews their work and proposals with a practiced eye.

Tim puts in far more time in his role than many others over the years. He worked as a resident to volunteer beyond his role helping prepare an old building for a new use. He regularly attends events that better inform residents of what is happening in town government.

And he has worked hard to get grants and more funding for town projects in his role on the Selectboard. State Sen. Jo Comerford cited his successful leadership of a campaign to get $471,000 for Deerfield from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) to address Covid-related cost increases for the library renovation.

I look forward to his continuing involvement on the ongoing projects in Deerfield. Please join me in voting for Tim Hilchey for another 3-year term.
