I am writing to express my full support for the re-election of Tim Hilchey to the DeerfieldSelectboard. As a former chair of the Community Preservation Committee and the Conservation Commission and a member of the Selectboard for the last three years, Tim has shown steady leadership, a deep commitment to our community and a genuine willingness to listen and act on the concerns of residents.

Whether it’s managing responsible budgets, supporting local businesses, advocating for infrastructure improvements — like new sidewalks on Sugarloaf Street and the new Leary Lot parking area near Ciesluk’s Market — Tim has helped bring in state and federal dollars to fund these improvements. While doing all this, he makes sure that every voice is heard at the table and consistently puts people over politics. His experience and calm, thoughtful approach to problem-solving have been invaluable — especially during challenging times like the relief efforts after the destructive July 2023 storms.

We need someone who understands the details of both our town’s needs and our economy. We need someone who has already proven he can get things done. Tim is a budget-cruncher. He even donated his own time to install new kitchen flooring in the 1821 building church to save taxpayer money when he felt that a bid to do the work as too expensive. We never have to ask “Where’s Tim?” because he’s always there: for every meeting, gathering, problem, event and ceremony.

Tim has earned our trust and deserves another term to continue the important work that has begun. I urge my fellow community members to join me in voting to re-elect Tim Hilchey to the Selectboard. Let’s keep moving forward together.
