It feels like we’ve created a day for everything and everyone. It’s become a bit much, in my opinion. However, I do like recent letter writer Mary Collins’ idea of celebrating the communities we choose to call home. Her April 9 letter in the Recorder, “Let’s create 413 Day,” feels like a great idea. But rather than connecting us to AT&T by using the area code for branding, maybe we try something that paints a visual picture of this beautiful region of Massachusetts.

Imaging exploring Temple Woods, Sachem Head and Rocky Mountain loop trails for the first time, before having lunch in town. How about a visit to MASS MoCA for some contemporary art, or my personal favorite, Greenfield resurrecting its once annual fishing derby for kids? I’m liking the positive energy surrounding Greenfield lately.
