The firing of Don Brown, a very experienced long-time coach with success in multiple programs is another excuse by the ongoing failure of the UMass Athletics Department and the board of trustees to promote UMass football into a program that is going to compete with high power programs that compete on a high national level.

Playing schools including those such as Missouri, Georgia, Auburn etc. for a payday is futile. The results watching these blowouts is embarrassing. UMass had many successes at the 1-AA level including national championships and an entertaining product on the field.

The revolving door of firing football coaches has been the recent norm and is not the answer.

The firing of UMASS Athletics Department director Ryan Bamford would have been the best solution.

All the best to Coach Brown who is owed over $1 million left on his contract.
