May 13: Quilts of Valor presentation

ORANGE — The North Orange Grange plans to hold a Quilts of Valor presentation at the Community Church of North Orange and Tully at 48 Main St. on Tuesday, May 13. The program is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a nonprofit that strives to literally and metaphorically comfort veterans with the healing love of a homemade quilt as an expression of gratitude for their sacrifices. Since 2019, the North Orange Grange has presented Quilts of Valor quilts to 13 veterans in the Orange-Athol-New Salem area. Orange veterans Leon Nicoliello, Dan Kimball, George C.F. Willard, James Cornwell, Joe Young and Edward Day have previously been given quilts. Two quilts will be presented on May 13.

Paul Lyman, a member of the Trustees of Soldiers Memorials, is expected to speak about what that body does to help preserve and protect the memorials in Orange. The North Orange Grange will receive an award commemorating its formation 150 years ago and two members will get membership awards for their years of service to the Grange.

This meeting is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served after the presentations.
