WHATELY — Two Community Preservation Act funding requests and two bills from prior fiscal years were approved by residents in a swift Special Town Meeting Wednesday evening.
In just over five minutes at the Town Offices, 21 residents approved the three articles on the warrant.
The two main articles to be addressed were CPA requests of $9,800 to replace a flat portion of the S. White Dickinson Memorial Library’s roof and $16,000 to fund Whately’s share of a new swimming dock at Tri-Town Beach. All work at the library will be done according to the Secretary of the Interior’s standards for treatment of historic properties.
Residents also approved the payment of two outstanding bills of $1,207 to Don’s Plumbing and $137 to KP Law.
The only discussion of the quick meeting involved clarification of the funding splits for Tri-Town Beach’s dock. Deerfield and Whately share costs equally for the beach.
“It’s a tri-town beach, but there are only two towns,” Moderator Nathanael Fortune said to laughs. Sunderland used to be a part of the beach in the past.
