SHELBURNE – A Vermont man was arrested in Keene, New Hampshire, for allegedly breaking into Aubuchon Hardware two weeks ago and stealing goods and cash.
10:33 a.m. — Reporting party requesting a call back from the animal control officer regarding the bird flu. Caller inquiring if it has been reported locally. She states she walks down Migratory Way all the time near Cabot Woods with her dog and she saw two dead geese, and another one on the ice that was suffering. Caller is concerned for the spread of bird flu to other animals as well. Message left for the animal control officer.

GREENFIELD — As the state-funded Days Inn shelter, which has predominantly housed Haitian immigrants and refugees, prepares to close its doors on Friday, the five families still living there are ready to move to new lodgings, according to ServiceNet, the human service agency that runs the shelter.

DEERFIELD — The Friends of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Regional Dog Shelter will come before Deerfield’s regulatory boards in the coming weeks, as the nonprofit seeks to construct an 8,000-square-foot shelter on a 13.4-acre parcel of land off Plain Road East.

A small, $8 donation to the Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter from 10-year-old Charlotte Cooley of Greenfield turned into nearly $500 after three weeks of donation matching spurred on by a Facebook post in early January.
