WENDELL — Cleanup has begun at the site of a freight train derailment that sent 15 railroad cars carrying non-hazardous merchandise off the tracks Tuesday afternoon.

3:23 p.m. — Reporting party states a vehicle was driving recklessly, almost causing multiple collisions. Vehicle turned onto the Turners Falls-Gill Bridge heading into Turners Falls, but the reporting party stayed on Route 2. Referred to an officer.

ERVING — Three Erving police officers and a mental health clinician with Clinical & Support Options (CSO) have been formally commended for their lifesaving actions in two different incidents involving suicidal individuals at the French King Bridge.
3:44 p.m. — Reporting party from East Main Street states her upstairs neighbor has been blaring music for four days and she has been hitting the ceiling with a broom and they won’t turn it down. Quiet upon officer’s arrival.
11:10 a.m. — Caller in the area of Newton and Bridge streets reports he was buying a car from someone and the man gave him fake paperwork, then ran off on foot with the money. Reporting party was chasing him and ended up on someone’s property. The property owner then came outside and assaulted him for being on his property. The vehicle he was supposed to purchase is parked on Newton Street. Officer stopped a white pickup truck that was about to leave the scene on Franklin Street and got more of the story from the driver. Male party was advised of his options.

WASHINGTON — A South Deerfield resident is trying to get released from pretrial detention after her arrest at the U.S. Capitol for allegedly telling police she wanted to kill top Republicans, including billionaire investor Scott Bessent on the day that the Senate confirmed him as President Donald Trump’s treasury secretary, according to documents filed in federal court.
11:15 a.m. — Reporting party from Highland School Apartments on Millers Falls Road states she would like it on record that several packages have gone missing from the common area where mail and packages are delivered. The property manager has been notified and will be checking cameras. No police services needed.

GREENFIELD — The Police Department has completed renovations to its dispatch center, a roughly two-year-long project that Chief Todd Dodge said was done primarily in-house through the Central Maintenance Department and volunteer work.
11:52 a.m. — Trespassing reported at Greenfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on High Street. Services rendered.
6:48 p.m. — Report of a party dressed in all black walking in the road near the Scottys convenience store at 66 Unity St. Almost got hit by a couple of vehicles. Officer checked the area but didn’t find anyone matching the description.
