HS Roundup: Frontier girls tennis defeats Chicopee, 4-1

Frontier girls tennis player Ella Sibley had to grind to earn her team a point on Thursday against Chicopee.
Competing at No. 3 singles, Sibley’s match took over three hours to complete with the freshman fighting back to earn a 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 victory that helped the Redhawks walk away with a 4-1 victory in South Deerfield.
Kayla Fagan added a win in No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-0), Esther Ehle and Aylen Shaw took No. 1 doubles (6-2, 6-3) while Brooke Charest and Eleanor Wade capped off the victory with a triumph in No. 2 doubles (6-2, 6-2).
Frontier 122.5, Mahar 22.5 — The Redhawks capped off an unbeaten season on Thursday to win the Intercounty League title, as Lilly Novak won the shot (28 feet, 10.5 inches) and discus (104-11), Hannah Davis took the triple jump (33-1.75), long jump (14-10) and 100 hurdles (16.8 seconds) and Josie Fosnot took first in the 400 (63.3) and 200 (28.3) in Frontier’s victory over the Sens in South Deerfield.
Rounding out the Redhawk winners were Bailey Cusson in javelin (97-11), Mia Christensen in high jump (5-2), Ella Whittier in the 100 (14.1), Sylvie DiBartolomeo in the mile (5:37.6), Maddie Antes in the 400 hurdles (76.3), Addie Moore in the 800 (2:37) and Liv Christensen in the 2 mile (13:08.1). Frontier won the 4x100 (55.4) and 4x400 (4:42.5) relays.
Mahar’s Stellina Moore won the pole vault (9-0).
Frontier 87, Mahar 58 — The Redhawk boys also took home an Intercounty League title on Thursday, finishing the season unbeaten following a win over the Senators.
Winners for Frontier were Julian Adams in shot put (34-10) and javelin (132-5), John Reloj in discus (125-4), Garrett Dredge in long jump (18-5), Grayden Gifford in high jump (5-7), Adrien Pazmandy in pole vault (11-0), Kai Fripp in the mile (5:28), Ben Cachiguango in the 400 hurdles (56.8), Gus Radner in the 800 (2:27) and Ian Paciorek in the 200 (23.4). The Redhawks won the 4x100 (48.1) relay.

Mahar winners were Mitchell Krasco in the triple jump (43-10.5) and 110 hurdles (15.3), Matt Soucy in the 100 (11.6) and 400 (51.7) and Isaiah Whitmore in the 2 mile (12:22.6).
Franklin Tech 10, Pathfinder 2 — Zaydrian Alamed went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Eagles, which defeated the Pioneers in an independent contest in Turners on Thursday.
Brody Hicks got the win and struck out nine while George Gutierrez went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the victory.
Renaissance 15, Mahar 14 — Trailing 15-10 going into the seventh, the Senators scored four runs but the rally fell just short as Renaissance escaped with an independent win in Springfield Thursday.
Kenzie Matthews singled, doubled and drove in four, Carly Paluk cracked a pair of hits and drove in a run while Gabby Matthews added a base hit for Mahar.
Wahconah 7, Frontier 2 — The Redhawks scored twice in the first but the Warriors didn’t surrender another run from there, as Wahconah pulled away with a Franklin County League West win in South Deerfield Thursday.
Ashley Taylor singled and struck out two, Delaney Fifield hit a two-run home run, Skyler Steele knocked two hits while Sophia Pinardi, Addie Ehle and Whitney Campbell each singled for Frontier.
Westfield 8, Greenfield 0 — Bomber hurler Shea Hurley limited the Green Wave to just two hits, as host Westfield collected an independent victory Thursday.
Olivia Lemay and Gloria McDonald had the two hits for Greenfield while MacKenzie Paulin struck out eight in three innings work in the circle for the Wave.
Pioneer 8, Easthampton 6 — The Panthers improved to 9-9 on the season with an independent victory over the Eagles on Thursday in Northfield.
Laylah Goulston singled, tripled and knocked in a run, Maggie Tsipenyuk doubled to drive in a run, Jacobia Tyminski finished with a hit and an RBI while Luci Burnap and Allison Clary hit safely for Pioneer.
Mohawk Trail 17, Athol 5 — The Warriors went on the road to earn a Franklin County League East win over the Bears on Thursday.
PVCICS 5, Greenfield 0 — Noah Chambers and Ben Russell fell 6-4, 6-2 in No. 2 singles for the Wave in a loss to the Dragons at the Davis Street Courts Thursday.
