After reading the news article about the poor cellphone service in the The Weldon apartment building in Greenfield, my first response was what is Europe doing to get wireless and internet service in its ancient buildings? [“Connectivity woes bedevil The Weldon,” Feb. 27]. They have thousands of buildings far older than any of ours. Europe has been far ahead of the U.S. in many situations — keeping harmful additives out of food and children’s products, providing child care and help in other areas for mothers, health care and vacations for its citizens/workers.

We, on the other hand, let capitalism go unhinged so the wealthy can rob the worker of his fair share for labor given, allowing the super rich to get even richer ( beyond anything reasonable). So I assume the Europeans have solved the cell service problem.

They are more reasonable and more humane than we. I know they didn’t tear down all the old buildings — their advertisement for tourism. So let’s find out what they did. OK?
