CHARLEMONT — The Department of Conservation and Recreation will be closing the day use area at the Mohawk Trail State Forest from May 23 through June 6 to accommodate storm damage repair work along the trails.

SHELBURNE FALLS — Raven Used Books at 49 Conway St. will host a trivia night to support The Academy at Charlemont’s drama program on Friday, May 23.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the game will begin promptly at 7:15 p.m. Teams of two to six people are encouraged to sign up, demonstrate their knowledge and compete for bragging rights.
Tickets are $15 and can be reserved in advance at charlemont.org/2025-trivia-night.
SHELBURNE — The Shelburne Agricultural Commission will present a slideshow of old farm pictures taken in town on Friday, May 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fellowship Hall on Little Mohawk Road.
Attendees can learn about the town’s agricultural history with stories and photos gathered from the many longtime residents of Shelburne, and take a look at what Shelburne was like in the early 1900s.
Light refreshments will be served.

HEATH — Residents can enjoy baked goods while supporting Heath Free Public Library programming at a bake sale on Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Community Hall on East Main Street.
The Friends of the Heath Public Library will be set up at Community Hall with a range of baked goods and will also accept donations of treats to sell. Donors can drop off their baked goods at the hall beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, or contact David Gordon at 413-337-4326 to schedule a drop-off the day before.
ASHFIELD — Ashfield’s Scout Troop 18 held a court of honor on Sunday, May 18, for Conway resident Amory Maxey, who reached the rank of Eagle Scout last year.
Maxey, a graduate of Frontier Regional School and an Amherst College student, reached the rank of Eagle Scout last year, thus becoming the troop’s 24th Eagle Scout. Maxey’s community service project, a requirement of the rank, was to build part of a new trail on Foxtrot Farm’s property for Ashfield Trails. This summer, he will do trail work at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico as a member of the conservation department’s work crew.
